Ari Koivunen is #1 on the Finnish album chart.
Top of the chart is heavy on metal. http://www.yle.fi/lista/listat/ Sturm und Drang is the other new Finnish phenomenon. Teenage kids playing classic heavy metal.

I can't get over how much metal is in that list. Finland is such a cool country!
And that Ari album isn't bad at all. Perhaps a bit heavy on the ballads, but that was to be expected. |

Yeah, but because of the hype I was expecting it to suck pretty bad. And it also came out on a major label, so chances were it would sound a lot more
mainstream than this. I mean, this is still power metal, even if it is of the lighter variety...

I listened to clips of The Cursed on their main website and it's total ZZZZZZZZ. Bland riffs, no energy, and even Blitz doesn't sound good. He sounds
bored. No venom or intensity whatsoever. I might just listen to this so I can have more low scores this year...

Heard it. It's AMAZING.
I loved Seven Seals and this is just as good. I don't know how much of a hand did Mat Sinner have in the writing of the album, but he's definitely one of metal's more overlooked songwriters. He made some great albums with Sinner as well, even if their last one was comparatively somewhat weaker than the rest. All in all, this was pretty refreshing. Kamelot, Manowar and a few others disappointed me this year so it's good to know that I can still rely on Primal Fear to deliver the goods. Great band. |

Given it a few listens and yes, it rocks. "Everytime It Rains," "Fighting The Darkness," and "Pyscho" are nasty tracks. Not sure
if I like this more than Seven Seals, but it's close.
P.S Styg how can you hate "Carniwar" but love "Psycho?" That doesn't make any sense to me haha

Psycho has a great melodic build to the short screamer chorus. Much better constructed song. Has a good heavy groove, catchy as hell build up, then it just
screams in. Great track. Carniwar was just boring.
