Just a note on reviews... I know I've been slacking on this but things have been busy for me lately. This is really more of a hobby/a fun way for me to
rant in my spare time and unfortunately I haven't had much lately. Not like this is a 'job' for me or there's deadlines... or really many
readers. Certainlly nothing pro about this operation. This will be coming back soon I hope, once I get past my birthday party this weekend, etc. I have plenty
of albums that need the review treatment right now. I'm sure I won't get as many done this year as in previous years, but what can I say... I'm
married and have grown somewhat of a life... a little bit

I can hardly wait for the new Saxon album. Especially after reading the review.

That first Hibria album seemed awfully generic to me. Marshall Law was pretty good from what I can remember and this new album isn't bad. It's funny
how Sean loves it - it must be because of those similarities to Jugulator.
And I haven't heard the new Grave Digger yet, but the last one was a bit iffy. |

I didn't hear the Marshall Law yet, but I have already ordered it from CDON.
Sorry, Stygian, but generally I tend to like what Sean likes. And some of the stuff you give high grades to, I know immediately without hearing it that I wouldn't like it. Nothing personal, just a matter of taste, obviously. For instance, I loved Jugulator. Of course, I don't agree on EVERYTHING with Sean. I generally tend to steer away from progressive metal by choice.

That's what I like about reviewers whose tastes I know quite well. I can deduct if I'd like it myself by seeing their comments instead of staring at
ratings like what happens a lot of times when it's someone you don't know.
That's what made me read metal-reviews.com in the first place.

Playing that Queensryche right now. I'll probably give it a slightly higher rating than you did, but its pretty crummy none the less.

I'll probably have some more comments later but I think I agree with you. The new Primal Fear seems a bit weaker this time around, but it's still
solid. I've only heard two songs from the new Stratovarius, and they sounded just fine, so I'm looking forward to it.
I think that you're sometimes a bit too harsh on Tim, but I have to say you're right... this is a very weak album. It sounded pretty disjointed to me. I'll give it a few more spins but there would be no point in buying it. This is probably the worst album I've ever heard from him. |
